I'm an oil lover!
According to numerous studies, some of the world's most nutrient-rich oils are a huge key to anti-aging and staying youthful in appearance. Wildly enough, Egyptians used facial oils to keep their skin illuminated and vibrant — so you can officially say they've been used for more than 5000 years.
Like many women, you may be missing this key vital step in your current beauty routine. I'm constantly applying oils all over my body and face, and I truly believe my slight obsession with oils is what kept me from getting stretch marks during pregnancy. I apply them after my baths and showers, while my skin is warm and moist.
The beauty of facial oils is that they work with your own natural oils to keep your skin balanced. They're also amazing at sealing moisture into your skin and keeping it hydrated.
I've tried SO many facial oils over the years, and so far these are my absolute favorites:
#1 - Restorsea 24kt Liquid Gold Face Oil
This facial oil is 100% natural and is specifically used to combat facial oil imbalances, while hydrating the skin. It's amazing for acne-prone skin and contains ingredients that have anti-aging and antibacterial properties to prevent clogged pores. It's also soothing and moisturizing. Plus, the 24kt gold flakes brighten the skin and makes skin glow beautifully!
I apply this as one of my last steps to my skincare routine. First I apply my moisture, then 24kt Liquid Gold, and then sunscreen. I also apply it in the evening over my night cream.
#2 - La Mer Renewal Oil
This facial oil is on the pricier side, but love how nourishing it is. The nutrient-rich formula gives my skin an instant glow when applied. It improves skin elasticity and helps promote natural collagen production.
I've found that it does a wonderful job of softening fine lines, and I love that it can also be used on hair and nails when dry. Sometimes I even put a drop or two on my beauty blender and apply it with my foundation and concealer.
#3 - Elemis Pro-Collagen Marine Oil
This rich oil targets wrinkles and fine lines with its trio of seaweeds: Padina Pavonica, Golden Seaweed, and Roaring Water Kelp. It also features white poppy seed, which plumps the skin.
The combination of all of these amazing ingredients helps keep your skin hydrated and looking refreshed and revitalized. It's also quite light, so it's perfect for application under your moisturizer.
#4 - Sonya Dakar Blue Butterfly Balm
This is a thick, rich, and luxurious balm that turns into oil when melted on your fingertips. I can't express how much I LOVE it! It's packed with more than 20 Botanicals that soothe and hydrate while revitalizing the skin with a beautiful glow. I use this if my skin is ever irritated or sensitive because it is very calming and healing. It smells amazing as well!
Last Words
Remember when applying skincare products, apply them from lightest to thickest. This means your facial oil will usually be one of the last things you apply.
Also, please slowly incorporate using facial oils into your routine. This will give you a bit of time to see how your skin responds to them, and make sure you always check with your dermatologist if you have any questions or concerns.
Love this piece on facial oils!! Please do more skin care content 🙂
