There are few more important things for our mental health than clear, positive energy radiating within the walls of our homes.
If for any reason the energy becomes stagnant and negative, it can completely wreak havoc on our daily lives and relationships.
Bad energy can creep in when we least expect it, but thankfully we can take control of it and invite fresh new, and inspiring energy in. Yes, sometimes the process is not easy, but with a bit of courage, you can turn things around.
The following are some steps you can take. The key is to give yourself the permission to take a break and just stop everything you're doing a few hours, a day... or maybe even two days!
The more attention you put into creating the environment you crave, the more effective your efforts will be.
#1 - Burn Dry Sage or a Favorite Fragrant Herb in Your Home
Human beings all over the world harness the power of fragrant herbs like sage to clear negative energy.
According to the ancients, burning sage releases ions that change the composition of the air. Such changes have been linked to positive mood boosts, decreased stress, and spiritual expansion.
This list of 10 herbs all serve specific functions for cleansing a space and can make a huge difference in just minutes.
You can place your dried herbs of choice in a fire-safe container and light them until they are aflame for a couple of seconds. Blow them out, and the embers will continue to burn. You can then fan the embers and spread them throughout a room.
If you have asthma or are sensitive to smoke, you may want to avoid this step and consider using plans to clear the space instead.
#2 - Place Crystals in Strategic Places
Crystals are also extremely powerful objects. They have also been used for centuries to help people overcome mind, body, and spirit challenges that create blockages and negative energy.
Each crystal is a gift from the earth and carries its own vibrational properties. Do some research to find specific crystals that address challenges you may be having.
For example, aquamarine addresses areas in your life that need closure, rose quartz removes obstacles surrounding true love, and agate clears mental blocks and helps the mind focus.
You may want to consider tourmaline and hematite for clearing negative energy from your home. They do wonders when things feel a bit heavy and dark.
#3 - Get Organized and Clear Out Clutter
One of the most important things you can do in your space is keep it organized. It's been said over and over again, "Cluttered space, cluttered mind." Dare to go through your home and assess what you REALLY need and want and what you can throw away.
Let go of objects that weigh you down. The only way you can move forward with wings is to make intentional decisions. Make every room in your home a light and bright haven that gives you, your family, and friends energy.
#4 - Invest in Some Plants
Bring new oxygen and life into your home with the addition of plants. You may want to consider those that smell delicious. Studies have revealed that when plants are added to a home environment they reduce stress, inspire humans to recover faster from sickness, boost production levels, and increase focus.
You can also greatly benefit from plant-based, organic essential oils via a diffuser. It's amazing what a single whiff of essential oils can do. Lavender promotes relaxation, eucalyptus boost energy, and sage is spirit and mind-expanding.
Take some notes on which plants and essential oils inspire you the most and then go for it!
#5 - Consider a Himalayan Salt Lamp for Sterilization and Positive Vibes
Salt is used by numerous cultures to clear negative energy.
In the form of a Himalayan Salt Lamp, it can help filter out dust, mold, mildew, and pet dander from the air. Asthma sufferers can highly benefit from them as well.
There are some beautiful lamps out there, so get one that inspires you!
#6 - Invest in Lemon-Scented Cleaning Products
The smell of lemon is one of the most invigorating and uplifting fragrances on the planet. Begin using these products in your cleaning ritual and prepare to be delighted.
#7 - Connect with your Imagination and Breathe in Positive Energy
We all have within us the power to use visualization to be set on fire. By this, I mean, picture in your mind a warming light that fills you with love and purpose. Allow for that energy to flow into your living space.
When you are filled with inspiration and positivity, anyone who walks into your space will feel it. When they walk out of your house and back into their own lives, good energy will follow them home.
#8 - Get Quiet and Listen for a Moment
Life gets so noisy and busy. In order to figure out what is going wrong in your home, it's important to take between 10 and 20 minutes to just sit in one of your rooms and be quiet.
Make sure your phone is out of reach, TV is off, and music on pause.
Listen carefully to what your home is saying to you. Listen to what. your soul is telling you. As you move forward with this exercise, you may find that your soul and home are one, as they tend to reflect each other.
I know this sounds a bit out there, but just as you would listen to the sea rolling in to meet the shore, give your home the same attention and take account of what you hear.
Does your home need more from you? More love and care? Are you giving enough thanks for the roof and shelter it provides?
#9 - Set New Intentions for Your Home
After you've taken time to listen and just be, it may become more clear what actions you need to take. Set intentions and goals for what you want to see and experience.
How do you want your home to feel? When you walk in the door, how do you want to be impacted?
How do you want other people to feel in your home?
When you set intentions, you create a fertile ground for the most beautiful things to occur in your life.
If you really want to get adventurous, consider beginning and ending your day with negative energy clearing rituals. Why wait until you're swimming with negativity to take action?
Look at each day as a 24 hour period that needs to be treated with love and care and then move through it with deep intentions for positivity.
You've got this!
