If you've been finding your hair to be a bit too oily and unmanageable these days, thankfully there are some easy and natural ways to restore its health.
When hair becomes frustratingly oily, it's usually because our sebaceous glands have become overactive. Although sebum benefits the hair and keeps it from drying out, too much can lead to greasiness.
Luckily, the following five DIY home remedies can lead to pretty quick results.
#1 - Aloe Vera
Aloe Vera does wonders for maintaining healthy hair and skin. Its gel helps keep the PH level of the scalp in check.
You can either buy aloe vera gel or use the whole plant. Either way, its consistency should be smooth and thick. Apply to your scalp and leave on for 20 minutes. Rinse with cold water, and repeat three times per week.
#2 - Egg Yolks
Egg yolks are also a wonderful treatment. Their nutrients and fatty acids help to maintain extra smooth hair. It also prevents excess oil secretion and aids in restoring normal sebum levels.
Take a tablespoon of lemon juice and blend with one egg yolk. You can apply this mixture on your scalp and leave on for 30 minutes. Rinse off with cold water and shampoo as you normally do.
#3 - Oatmeal
Oatmeal contains anti-inflammatory properties that beautifully soothe the scalp and remove excess oil.
Combine with water and apply like a mask. Wait for 30 minutes and rinse off with cold water.
#4 - Green Tea
Green tea is another great option! It helps contract hair follicles that may be releasing too much oil. Plus, its antioxidants act as stimulants that strengthen and promote hair growth.
Brew a batch of tea and apply it to your scalp. Leave on for 10-20 minutes and then rinse.
#5 - Beer
Beer's malts and hops are a rich source of vitamin B, which helps inspire thick and long hair. Also, yeast decreases the sebum on the scalp.
Add a cup of beer to a bowl and place in the refrigerator to expel its carbon dioxide. Wait a day and apply to your scalp for 5-10 minutes. Rinse off and shampoo as you normally do.
