I am a huge believer in the benefits of turmeric both for the inside and outside of my body. Not only do I notice a huge difference in the way I look and feel when making it a part of my routine, but a growing body of scientific evidence is proving that it is one of the most effective nutritional substances on earth.
For thousands of years, Turmeric has been used in India to heal, cure, and disinfect. Thankfully, it's becoming more and more popular in the western world.
Here's why we need more turmeric in our lives:
#1 - It's Great for Anti-Aging
Turmeric boosts collagen production and reduces wrinkles and fine lines. It also helps prevent sagging skin by inspiring the formation of new healthy tissues that keep skin tight and supple.
The powerful, all-natural chemical found in turmeric (Curcumin) protects cells from damage because of its tremendous antioxidants that inhibit free radicals. It also does wonders to repair the skin's epidermis.

#2 - Great for Overall Health
It helps calm upset stomachs, heals and disinfects wounds, and has even been thought to cure illnesses. Studies have also shown that it can suppress fat tissue growth, which can result in weight loss. It also helps regulate sugar levels in the body and helps ease sleeplessness.
#3 - Helps Lighten Pigmentation and Lessen Dark Circles
Turmeric is full of powerful antioxidants that fight against the dangerous molecules that cause skin damage. It's been proven to offer skin lightening effects that stimulate circulation and can even reverse skin damage and discoloration caused by the sun.
#4 - Reduces Acne and Other Frustrating Skin Issues
Thankfully, Turmeric is packed with antibacterial and anti-inflammatory compounds that reduce acne, breakouts, pimples, clogged pores, and congested skin. It's also wonderful for rashes, eczema, and psoriasis.
#5 - Great for Sex!
To top it off, research shows that curcumin, the chemical we discussed above, boosts blood flow to the genitals when rubbed via an ointment or essential oil on the stomach.
Ways to Consume and Use Curcumin
- You can cook it into your food, blend it into smoothies, make tea, put it in soups and salad, and season your vegetables and rice. The options are endless!
- Take it in a supplement. Curcumin supplements are one of the most effective ways to reap the incredible benefits of turmeric. I take Nature's Nutrition Turmeric Curcumin with Bioperine. Bioperine is black pepper, which helps with absorption.
- Use it topically on the skin. This can come in the form of masks and scrubs. My only word of advice: be careful because it can stain! When I apply a mask, I rinse it off in the shower to be extra safe.
