Yes, I know! Waking up with dark circles under your eyes is frustrating and sometimes disheartening.
I've been on a quest to find creative ways to deal with dark circles and thankfully have found some creative ways to tackle them.
The following reveals both the reasons and the remedies for brightening your eyes. It's important to know that your dark circles may be the result of one or more of these challenges. So, the more proactive you can be to care for your eyes and the area around your eyes, the better.
#1 - Sleep Is Amazing Medicine
A wonderful night of sleep does wonders for dark circles. Lack of sleep increases the production of cortisol, and when cortisol levels rise in your system, blood vessels are forced to expand and make dark circles more visible. Also, sleeping on your back is best!
#2 - Cold Compresses and Caffeine Do the Trick
Cold compresses are a friend to the skin around your eyes. Plus, they feel amazing when inflammation has taken root.
- Try applying tea bags with caffeine for about 15 minutes to draw fluid away from the eyes.
- Cucumbers are a natural anti-inflammatory and contain Vitamin C and caffeic acid. Plus, they are so refreshing.
- Cold spoons and/or a jade roller applied for 4-5 minutes can make a huge difference.
#3 - Vitamins & Supplements for a Nutrient Boost
Nutritional deficiencies can wreak havoc on our skin. I'm a huge fan of the following vitamins and supplements for daily use:
- Collagen: Keeps your skin tight and plump while reducing signs of aging.
- Vitamin B-12: Reduces the appearance of dark circles if you're low in B-12.
- Vitamin E oil and almond oil: Mix equal amounts before bed and apply underneath eyes.
#4 - Stay Hydrated Against All Odds
Drinking water flushes toxins and acids out and cleanses your system to increase the glow in your skin. Also, cutting back on salt and alcohol can make a huge difference.
#5 - Products I use and Love for Dark Circles and Puffy Eyes
- Retinol before bed every night.
- Vitamin C serum
- Hyaluronic acid
- Skin Better Interfuse Eye Cream
- Color Science Total Eye (my favorite eye cream in the world!)
